Principle Researcher

Miri Besken

Miri Besken is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Bilkent University.  Prior to completing her Ph.D in Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she obtained her B.S. in Psychology from Middle East Technical University and an M.A. in Developmental Psychology from Koç University. Before coming to Bilkent University, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Heinrich Heine Universität in Düsseldorf, Germany. Her research interests lie in the intersection of memory, learning and metacognitive processes with a focus on healthy young adults.

Current Grad Students

Öykü Aydın

Öykü graduated from Çankaya University Psychology Department in 2020 and Psychology (Cognitive) M.A. program in 2023. She is currently a first-year Ph.D. student in Bilkent University Psychology graduate program. She is mainly interested in emotion-memory interaction. She is currently working on a project that investigates how different learning strategies affect the memory and metamemory processes.

Fatih Yavuz

Fatih graduated from METU Psychology Department in 2021. He is currently a third-year M.A. student in Bilkent University Psychology graduate program. He is mainly interested in the generation effect on memory and metamemory. Also, his research extends to the metamemory reactivity to understand emotional enhancement theory.

Rengin Dalkıran

Rengin graduated from Çankaya University Psychology Department in 2019 and King’s College Neuroscience M.Sc. program in 2020. She is currently a third-year M.A. student in Bilkent University Psychology graduate program. She is mainly interested in the perceptual fluency and recognition memory.
