The Effects of Photo-Taking & Note-Taking on Memory & Metamemory (Learning Strategies)

Explanation

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of common learning strategies such as note-taking and photo-taking on memory performance. During the experiment, some lecture slides will be presented to the participants. In the meantime, they will be asked to take notes, take photos of the slides, and/or just evaluate the slides. Besides, participants may be asked to rate their likelihood of remembering each slide. Afterward, they will complete a memory test about the lecture slides.

Duration: 60 minutes

Place: H Building Psychology Laboratories (HB-11) 

Who can participate?

– Between ages 18-30

– Native Turkish speakers

– Normal or corrected vision (If you use glasses, please come to the experiment with your glasses) & hearing

– Students who are not currently taking a course from Assoc. Prof. Miri Besken

General Knowledge, Reasoning and Truthfulness

Explanation

This study investigates the relation between previously acquired knowledge and cognitive judgements. You will be presented with sentences involving certain words and categorical information. And then after learning these, you will be asked to judge the truth values of certain statement.

Duration: 45-60 minutes

Place: G Building Psychology Laboratories

– Have not participated in the same study before

– Between ages 18-30

– Native Turkish speakers
